When did you first learn you are the Grandson of Al Capone?

I first learned shortly after my dad died in 1984 that his father was Al Capone.

What caused you at the early of 13 to begin this search into finding out who your father really was?

The time I spent with my father as a young boy meant a great deal to me. While our father was alive he dropped many hints that led us to believe that there was more to learn about his true identity. When asked more about his family, he just said that he couldn't tell us. He did say that his family was very powerful and rich and that he could tell us some stories about his family that would make our heads spin.

How has your search into your fathers past impacted your life?

As I grew older the search into my father's past has allowed me to reconnect with him. Searching and learning more about my father has been very important for rebuilding my dignity and more importantly my self esteem. This reconnection has enabled me to bring some closure to the abrupt and traumatic experiences I lived through as a young boy.

Did you live in fear wondering if people would find out who you are related to?

As a child I didn't understand why there were so many protective measures surrounding our existence. Looking back now I see that they were implemented to ensure that our family remained safe. These extreme protective measures caused my sister and I to feel like we were living in prison. The physical and mental entrapment caused my sister and I to not grow and to develop as healthy children should grow. For example we were not able to bring friends home and or venture outside the immediate surroundings of our home.

What do you hope for as a result of sharing your story?

I would like to let the cat of the bag, possibly with the hope of learning more about my father and his relation to this man coined Scarface for the past seventy five years.
